Scams & Fraud Prevention Tips
Holiday Rentals - In does not require travellers to register and verify who they are before contacting  a property owner.  Therefore we ask that you trust your own judgement when giving out details.
  • Fraud warning signs include an unusal methods of payment. Such as "send you an overpayment, then request you send them back the difference.  This is a scam and the cheque will bounce. Be wary of accepting cashier cheques or money orders (banks will cash them and then hold you responsible when the fake is discovered weeks later)
  • Speak to the traveller on the telephone and do not complete the transaction through emails alone.
  • Ask for their home address, verify that it exsits using google or other mapping systems.
  • Always get a telephone number and call it to make sure that it is genuine. Get a place of work number.
  • Get a reference where possible.
  • Never give out personal information (drivers licence number, social security number, etc.)
  • Trust your gut, if it doesn`'t feel right it probably isn't.
  • If it is a genuine traveller they will not mind supplying you the information.
